Welcome to my online portfolio. I create in a variety of styles and media, but every single work is inspired by my passion and love of beauty. I invite you to browse my portfolio and contact me directly for more information on pricing.
At present, I am working mostly with acrylic, paper collage, and mixed media. My work is primarily abstract with occasional elements of figures and landscapes. At times it is playful, other times passionate, but always heartfelt.
Born in Syria, I lived in a number of countries, including Kuwait and England before relocating to New York City, then to Northern Virginia. My work benefits from my multi-cultural background and experiences and re-interprets emotional reactions to my personal history.
With a B.Sc in Computing and Statistics from London, England, a Masters in Management from M.I.T. and a Masters in Education from Harvard, I worked in Banking and I.T. before becoming a mathematics teacher in Manhattan. In that role, I realized that even though I did not have an opportunity to study art as a youngster, it was never too late to start learning. So while still working full-time, I embarked on a new journey, taking art classes at The Art Student League and at the National Academy of Design School in New York City as well as attending workshops at Hudson River Valley. Taking a sabbatical in 2004, I spent 9 months at three different artist residencies in Spain, India, and in Cyprus, where I taught a figure drawing class at an art school and had a solo show at a gallery in Limassol.
I have continued to study at various venues including the Smithsonian, the Corcoran and the Art League School. My work has been exhibited in many shows in NY and in the Washington DC area.
